La silhouette sur la gauche représente quant à elle la première confrontation avec l’hypervisibilité et l’invisibilité. Le contraste entre ces deux phases de l’enfance est frappant.

In this painting, Abdourahman depicts two younger versions of herself. The figure on the right represents a confident child; she is innocent but proud of her identity. To illustrate this, Abdourahman writes down her full last name on her dress. The figure on the left represents those first moments in childhood recognizing hypervisibility and invisibility. There is a striking contrast between these two stages in childhood.
