The practice of duo IvanovStoeva is at the crossroads of kinetic sculpture and installation. It examines simulacra inspired by nature, within which technology and light merge. Their creative process is rooted in exploring matter and technology to create kinetic events based on illusions.

Following their desire to document different natural systems, the duo experiments with technology that allows them to visually simulate reality. Through animatronic models and 3D simulations based on scientific data, they examine movement, sound and light.

Light plays a central role in their research, acting as a link between elements, and a way for natural simulacra to appear. By modulating light, the artists seek to imagine new worlds, inspired by meteorological phenomena. The duo works on developing a futuristic aesthetic within which technological progress would result in a natural landscape composed of mechanical elements. Their aesthetic research becomes a visual and conceptual system, which validates the construction of new realities.

Their collaborative work took shape in 2010 as the duo IvanovStoeva after several collaborative projects in Canada and Europe. They have presented their work in solo and group exhibitions and have been part of major art events such as The ELEKTRA International Digital Art Festival and Art Souterrain - Contemporary Art Festival in Montreal. IvanovStoeva's practice has been supported by Canada Council for the Arts Conseil des arts du Québec Conseil des arts du Saguenay, Conseil des arts de Montréal. During their professional career, they have been undertaking many successful steps to reach out to the public through contemporary art. Their goal as researchers-artists is to inform, inspire and stimulate actions. For them the combination of technology, science and art has great potential and they are eager to contribute to its development.
