Clara Cousineau

Through her multidisciplinary practice, Clara Cousineau develops work within which the perception of distinct mediums is blurred. She simultaneously explores their limits and their distinctive wholeness. The domestic environment – including the symbolic charge of the familiar objects that compose it, and the bodies that interact with it – is what drives her research. Through games of camouflage and exchanging the roles of the elements she creates, she engages in a blurring of 2D and 3D, playing with the interpretation of the viewer. The chromatic neutrality of her work accentuates the silhouettes of objects: their initial use is evacuated, replaced by accumulation and repetition. Her pieces reflect acts of aesthetic détournement, which confer strangeness to the most banal.
