The construction of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River forced the displacement of the Philae Temple. The landscape alteration caused the water level to rise, generating a new topography. In the 1960s, UNESCO dismantled 22 landmarks and relocated them with the support of foreign countries. This series hones in on the temple’s infrastructural interventions to present it as a tourist attraction, destabilizing its status as historical evidence. The temple is no longer itself but a palimpsest.
